Conservative London Mayor Lets Cuts Out of the Bag - 04.01.10

Following the row over misleading Tory claims on crime figures, the announcement by London Mayor, Boris Johnson, of planned cuts of 455 Police Officers by 2012 shows what would happen under a Tory Government.

Nationally, a Conservative Government would mean 3,500 fewer Police Officers on the streets.

Dr. Starkey says, "The Tories have gone to great effort, both locally and nationally, to suggest that violent crime has increased under Labour. However, the Mayor's budget cuts have really let the cat out of the bag: if the Conservative Party honestly believe that violent crime has increased under Labour then why are they planning cuts in Police on the beat"?

"The Tory's numbers just don't add up".
