Home Office Minister, Alan Campbell, has written to Dr. Phyllis Starkey letting her know that the new Crime and Security Bill has been extended to include an independent appeals process for motorists wishing to contest clamping charges.
Dr. Starkey has teamed up with local paper, the MK Citizen, to campaign against private wheel-clamping businesses that have been continuously intimidating constituents whilst charging sky-high fees.
Dr. Starkey said, "The Home Office have now tabled an amendment to the Bill, to create an independent, fair and transparent appeals process".
"I am hopeful that this legislation will get through Parliament before the General Election and ensure that motorists are protected from the exorbitant charges and deliberately inadequate signage that have entrapped so many motorists, locally. I will certainly make sure I am at Westminster and voting for this important legislation".
